The Bowdle Boys will bring some old-time rock to Hague CentennialHague is going to get a taste of the early age of rock and roll during its centennial. The Bowdle Boys are a South Dakota entertainment group that sing songs of the 50s, 60s and 70s from the pioneers of rock and roll. The group consists of six members. Brennen Bollinger plays percussion, Margy Bobby plays the keyboard, and Curtis Bollinger, Rick Boschee, Derrick Walz and Brian Nelson all sing. They usually do songs where they can blend their voices in styles like doo-op. The Bowdle Boys have been together for two years. They got their start while playing at the North and South Dakota State Fair Convention, where band groups can play a bit and interested parties will talk to the groups about gigs. A friend had told Curtis not to get his hopes up, since there were lots of good groups there. But the Bowdle Boys were surprised to find a large line of people waiting to speak with them when they got back to their room. Since their beginning the group has grown. The Bowdle Boys used to consist of just the four singers and their trusty CDs, but they have since then added Brennen, Curtiss son, and Margy so that they can do fully live performances at each gig. Their song list has also increased. As soon as Curtis saw the huge line of people that were waiting to speak with him at the fair convention, he knew that they had to add more songs. Their busiest times of the year are in the summer, especially July. This year July is packed for the Bowdle Boys, since they have only one weekend off in the month. The Bowdle Boys will be performing at the Hague Centennial at seven oclock on Friday, July 4. |
