Magician to perform at HagueHague will be wowed during their centennial by magician Andrew Young. Andrew specializes in visual illusions and likes to get audience members involved. He has been doing magic since he was eight years old. He started off entertaining his friends and small crowds at 4-H competitions, and then four years ago he started doing paid shows. His first gig was fifteen minutes long for the senior citizens center in Napoleon for which he was paid five dollars. Andrew now does shows usually over 100 miles away. The furthest from home he has been booked was in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and he has performed for a crowd of 5,000 people at the state FFA convention. Andrew will also be heading to the national FFA convention in the last week of October. It will be held at Indianapolis, Indiana, where he will entertain a crowd of 50,000. Andrew is not alone on stage. His assistant, Rachel Becker, helps out with much of the backstage work like getting Andrews tricks ready. She has been a part of the act for three years. Both Andrew and Rachel are natives of Napoleon. Andrew just graduated from Napoleon High School this spring and will be attending NDSU in the fall. When asked what he planned on majoring in, he said he has no idea. He realizes that college is a busy time, but he will try to keep up with his magic act. Andrew will be performing on Saturday, July 5 at two p.m. at the Hague Centennial. |
